Five million for the junior

U2 supports young people with musical ambition in Ireland

U2 has the aim to support music education in their home country. While the rock band goes on a world tour, the Irish youngsters are to be musically encouraged. For that the band has given five Milllions to a national music tuition programme. With the help of this money, teenager in Ireland will be given opportunity to learn a musical instrument or avail of vocal tuition. A charitable organization donates another two million euros. The project starts in 2010 and is running for five years.
A band member on the motivations: „Being around music at a young age was important for us and we were lucky to have it at school. We had been looking for some time for a way to get involved in an initiative in music education in Ireland. Here it is.“

Nice that there are musicians who share their assets and use it for purposes to which the public benefit. From Bono we knew that are already in other matters. Thanks for the inspiration U2!
