Even one who is not a fan of american punk rock knows one album from this genre: „American Idiot“ by Greenday. To this music we rocked and revoltet. Who would have thought that these „sweet guys“ who formed a band 1987 and performed first as The Sweet Children would make it to eight successful albums. Since nobody expected them to grow up or develope, everything they do comes as a surprise. Their album „Dookie“ was sold over 10 Million and there is barely anyone who doesnt know „American Idio“. Their newest shot is „21st Century“ and once again we listen in amazement; even better, even more confident, like „American Idiot“ has just been the warm-up. On „21st Century“ Greenday combines punk trash with their newfound love of classic-rock and they sing about religion surprisingly often. The video for „21 Guns“ is nominated for Best Rock Video for the MTV VMA’s 2009.

Why the new album has turned out so awesome? Greenday didnt push themselves. Its not like there is anyone left for them to compete with.

By the way: Why the band is named Greenday? In californian Slang a green day names a boring day one kills by smoking weed. When Ernie used the phrase on Sesamen Street, they guys found that so hilarious, it first became an insider joke and later their band name. We like it.
