After one and a half year at the studio with his band Disco Nr.1, Jan Delay releases his third solo album: „Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Soul“ is a dance disc for real, that is supposed to „turn your head off and butt on“, as Jan Delay is putting it in words. His second Funk album is a Witness of a steady musical development and also the lyrics have changed to the better; less political but even more creative. Best example are the tracks „Little Miss Anstrengend“ and „Abschlussball“. Which style of music will follow „Kinder vom Bahnhof Soul“ the 32-year old has not yet decided. „I am fully occupied realising the disc for live shows and shooting videos.“ After that he will just wait for the next flash.
After many performances at festivals this summer, he will tour Germany this fall. When he will hit Switzerland with his new program is not yet known.

Insider tip at Kaufleuten
Well, in general Starsailor arent an insider tip, but their gig at the Kaufleuten in Zurich on September 9th sure is. Since their debutalbum in 2001 the band was granted a big success, mainly in the UK. Around here they remained mostly unknown. But having been the supporting band for U2 and the Rolling Stones they deserve also the Swiss attention. Their music is sensitive, melancholic, grande!
Since the band around singer and guitarist James Walsh was founded in 1999 it mainly came to fame wih their albums „Love is here“ and „Silence is easy“ and conquered the hearts of their many fans around the world. Starsailor conjure goose bumps, happy feelings and captivated smiles with their passionate pop music. In the last couple years we havent heard much from the guys, now we know why: Secretly they recorded a new, fourth album.
We are looking forward to a charismatic singer and music with depth. Time to hoist the sails and set the course to Zurich.

La Roux is a british electro-pop-duo constisting of the 21 year old singer Elly Jackson and the producer Ben Langmaid. Even though the redhead singer (therefore the name) represents the project mainly herself, La Roux wants to be called a group and not a solo act.
Shortly their first album „La Roux“ hit the stores, and the single „Bulletproof“ reached the top of the UK charts. The debutalbum bristles with synthesizern and synthie-pop and produces hitmaterial thanks to stylistically secure songs. The sound of La Roux is not only cool but undercooled. Exactly that makes the difference to their electro-pop collegues like Little Boots and exactly that sets La Roux on fast lane on the way to the charts.

Bei wem liegt die Verantwortung?
Die Elternfrage
In der Zeitung, im Fernsehen, selber gesehen und erlebt: Überall und immer wieder begegne ich dem Phänomen der Verrohung unserer Jugend. Gewalt, Drogen, Sex. Wenn ich zurück blicke auf meine Jugendjahre, vor allem die frühen, dann sehe ich auch kein reines Heft und doch war ich im Vergleich dazu, was heute abgeht, Erzengel Gabriel höchstpersönlich. Ich finde es erschreckend.
Und ich ärgere mich. Nicht nur über diese Umstände, sondern vor allem auch darüber, dass bei der Frage nach der Verantwortung die Eltern gänzlich ausser Acht gelassen werden.
Nachdem die Schule schon für die gesamte sexuelle Aufklärung verantwortlich ist, ebenso für die Drogenprävention und vor kurzem auch Ernährungslehre zum Regelstundenplan dazu gestossen ist, soll nun also die Schule die Gewaltprävention und -verhinderung auf sich nehmen. Und zwar exklusiv. Bei der soll die Zürcher Schuldirektorin Regine Aeppli versagt haben. In den vielen Diskussionen, Artikeln und Interviews nach dem Prügelvorfall der Küssnachter Jungs in München werden die Eltern gänzlich ausgelassen, lieber nimmt man Frau Aeppli in die Mangel. Dabei ist sie meiner Meinung nach eine der kompetentesten Schuldirektorinnen im Schweizerland.
Klar, die Schule hat grosse Möglichkeiten und viel Einfluss auf die Kids, doch darf nicht vergessen gehen, dass Lehrpersonen jeden Tag in jeder Schulstunde soziale Arbeit leisten, denn 20 Kids in einem Raum, die gleichzeitig arbeiten und lernen sollen ist kein Sugus. Wieviel Verantwortung, ausser derjenigen für das, was im Klassenzimmer passiert und die schulische Leistung (mit Vorbehalt) betrifft, sollen die Lehrer noch übernehmen? Fakt ist, der wichtigste Teil in der Erziehung leisten die Eltern. Müssen. Fakt ist aber auch: Erziehung gleich Arbeit. Es nimmt Zeit in Anspruch, viel Kraft und noch dazu macht man sich bei den Kindern erstmal unbeliebt. Klingt nicht nach dem ganz grossen Elternspass. Was aber vergessen geht über die Anstrengung und die oft fehlende Zeit, ist die existenzielle Wichtigkeit von Grenzen und Regeln. Ohne, kommt genau das raus, was man sogar an Schulabenden um 24 Uhr an jedem Bahnhof erleben kann: betrunkene Jugendliche, die Randale machen. Meine Grossmutter meint zu der Entschuldigung, es fehle an Zeit für die Erziehung, weil heute oft beide Elternteile arbeiten müssen: „Man kann auch nach 17 Uhr noch Kinder erziehen.“ Eine weise Frau.
Noch bin ich keine Mutter aber wenn, dann werde ich eine die Regeln aufstellt und Grenzen setzt. Eine, die die Kids mit 14 nicht mögen, weil sie unter der Woche abends nicht weg dürfen und am Wochenende um 24 Uhr daheim sein müssen. Aber sie werden es mir danken. Irgendwann.

Kanye West wants the throne
Michael Jackson, resigned King of Pop, has been dead for a bit over a month now. In that time there were many speculation, people dug deep in his past and his albums were once again at the top of the international music charts. Michael Jackson was an idol and deserved King of Pop.
Now that his throne is empty, the question about his followers surfaces. Kanye West named himself crownprince as he said in an interview: „You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change. It's so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I'm willing to take that on.“ According to Kanye there is nobody who can match him in sales and he even likened himself to another King: „First there was Elvis, then there was Michael, now in the 21st century it is Kanye's time to rule.“
What we think of that?
No one will be able to live up to Michael Jackson so quick, and that is okay.
